For the time you let me know that I can unequivocally let him know I can love you better–thank you.

For the time you reminded me that I can say I’m “Not gon’ Cry,” but if I do anyway, it's okay–thank you.

For the TIMES you’ve given me bops, jams, and the two-step I needed–thank you.

For the time you helped me drive 13 hours from Atlanta to New York City, thank you.

For these times and the countless others you’ve given that have morphed into life lessons, affirmations, and bold reminders– I thank you. Thank you for having the courage to use your gifts to help others be seen. Thank you for SHOWING UP. Thank you for being a very public example of grace under fire, and an example of what rebounding with vulnerability, courage, and fortitude looks like.

I know that so many of the stories that celebrate your songs are steeped in pain and struggle, and I think they hit us so hard because they’re SO honest. Your music represents our true human struggle to love, to be free, and to stay connected on the neverending journey to find ourselves. You, our dear Mary, have continued to welcome us on your journey, which has helped us to better navigate our own.

You’re a queen who so deserves her crown. Thank you for everything. I celebrate you! I SEE you. I send you MUCH love and appreciation, today and always!!
